That light was made out of many colors
including: red, orange and blue.
Who knew that the first talking motion picture
was a musical?
Or that research could reveal all these things and more!
Who knew…who knew…
You can start with one topic but then zoom!
Ideas in the form of books begin to bloom
like flowers in spring.
I start looking at one thing but leave with three!
Every catalog search is a road with 20 different side paths to take.
You think that you could just get in then run out…
but NO!
Instead you find resources for resources
and reference books for every topic in mind,
CDs about DVDs and DVDs about CDs.
Who knew that a seemingly normal girl
could get entangled in a music dictionary?
Or in the time it took me to write this poem
I could have driven to the library!
Who knew?
Well I never knew,
that people like me could find it hard to resist,
the wonders of books,
even after teacher said cease and desist!
I never knew the information out there
could be collected and published in 50 different formats…
Who knew?
Miss Susan knew.
